Light Emitting Diodes, LED lighting in general is more energy efficient and longer lasting than most other types of light source, as its becoming increasing popular on the market today.
Surprisingly, not all LED's are the same quality. In fact, there are only a handful of high-quality LED manufacturers. After all, there's a world full of LED manufacturers and suppliers, many providing low-cost solutions from Asia.
The top LED manufacturers produce superior, consistent wafers and, thus, superior chips. A good chip produces the fewest inconsistencies in color, intensity, and voltage drop. The difference is in the components that determine reliability, durability, design, and most of all, a consistent performance. So, how can you tell the difference between the two? Low-quality LED may initially appear brighter than a high-quality one if the low-quality device has a higher drive current. However poor design in assemblies causes the extra current in LEDs to heat up more quickly, and ultimately fade or burnout. Quality LED suppliers will warranty their assemblies for up to three years or more and ask for the lighting fax label, this will insure the performance of the bulb.
